The Assistant Project Manager will work with various Project Managers across three corporate Divisions, as well as the Director and President of the company.

 

An understanding of construction management and the ability to perform across a myriad of project types – Design-Build, On-Call/IDIQ, and Lump Sum – are integral competencies required for this job.

 

A basic working knowledge of civil, architectural, and MEP disciplines, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and manage multiple stakeholders are the foundation for success in this role.

 

Specific Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicate with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors and Project Managers.

  • Provide initial client contact to assess scope of work and resources required to successfully complete the project.

  • Develop a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources, including take-offs and buy-outs.

  • Negotiate and/or support the process of negotiating contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders.

  • Understand the requirements of each government contract in order to properly estimate the costs of the work

  • Read and understand the contract responsibilities and scope of the work in order to provide a complete and thorough estimate.

  • Generate estimates from blueprint drawings, specifications, field notes, field drawings, and actual field inspections

  • Responsible for catching deviations from the specifications and plans as it relates to scope, contract and schedule.

  • Obtain all necessary information, such as: field inspections, measurements, photographs, and sketches required to provide accurate customer pricing.

  • Attend/conduct all weekly meetings in conjunctions with project start-up, pre-bid, and job progress (as needed.)

  • Generate project budgets and material lists.

  • Candidate should be able to read digital drawings, download digital files, and be generally computer savvy

  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy. Include safety management/adherence.

  • Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of onsite superintendent/management team to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.

  • Perform additional assignments as directed by company executives.

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Education:

  • 4 year engineering or construction degree, or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.

  • Basic working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical or electrical discipline.

  • Good analytical skills and the ability to effectively use a variety of estimating, scheduling and reporting software tools.

  • The ability to effectively communicate with management, subcontractors, customers and peer group.

  • Ability to understand field conditions for the purpose of estimating project work.

  • Understanding of corporate policies, industry practices, construction technology, equipment and methods, negotiations, engineering, construction costs and estimating, scheduling, and safety requirements is necessary.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.

  • Professional conduct in a business environment is essential.

  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.

  • Solid proficiency with spreadsheets, email and other software used in the construction industry.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s licenseCandidate must be willing to become OSHA certified

 

Physical Job Requirements:
