Senior Estimator: Screen leads and source project opportunities for commercial construction projects typically ranging $1M - $8M. Analyze contract requirements to understand how to meet the performance specifications dictated by the client. Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, material, and labor cost estimates for projects. Exercise care, good judgment and risk reduction practices to protect interest of company and reduce potential liabilities when budgeting projects. Work with firm leadership to determine budget for estimating department activities. Develop a strategy to achieve minority participation requirements. Examine and prepare BIM, particpate in Pull Planning Lean Construction sessions with other contractors to assess construction activities and BIM models. Train Estimators in performing take-offs using On-Screen Take-off Software and Bluebeam Software. Supervise other Estimators in preparing scope of work, RFIs, submittals, close-out documents and schedule for construction projects. Shepherd Estimators in soliciting subcontractor and/or vendor quotes and evaluating them for scope and qualifications. Optimize plans and schedules for projects following a logical pattern for utilization of resources or cost loading. Schedule and Plans to be prepared using Primavera P6 software. Attend and participate in pre-construction meetings with clients. Lead meetings with subcontractors to develop complete scopes and discuss strategy, and conduct project start-up meetings as needed. Evaluate subcontractor performance for consideration on future projects. Manage RFP process. Review change order estimates and deliver proposals to clients. Manage project startup documentation in Project Team, Procore and Prolog Software. Track quantities of completed work against original bid. Analyze trends from historical database of past and present construction projects, materials, and labor durations. Use historic project database to assist Project Managers and Superintendents to determine activities that might negatively and positively impact the schedule or the budget. Stay informed of current product, systems knowledge, industry practices and technology tools. Establish and nurture relationships with industry professionals, suppliers, general contractors, subcontractors and public agencies.
Job requires a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 2 years of work experience in construction estimation with a general contractor or prominent subcontractor, or related experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 5 years of work experience in construction estimation with a general contractor or prominent subcontractor, or related experience. Must have prior experience with each of the following: Roofing, Waterproofing, Air and Vapor Barriers, Exterior Panel Façade and all other Division 7 construction related work with basic knowledge of architectural, mechanical, and electrical discipline; construction software including Primavera P6, Procore, Project Team, Prolog, BIM, Bluebeam, Sage, On-Screen Takeoff and Microsoft Suite; Construction Project Estimation & Scheduling; and, Construction Project Controls. Must have current or prior OSHA-30 Construction Safety License and current or prior LEED AP BD+C Certificate.
