HRGM constructed a new recirculating splash pad, new natural turf field, dynamic custom shade structure, new playgrounds, a new dog park, and extensive LID improvements for this public park. Project was completed on time and on budget. Work was completed adjacent to an operating school in a dense and involved community.
HRGM provided design-build services and construction for a new 44,000 SF pool, pool deck, and splash pad with extensive LID improvements and site mechanical upgrades.
As the design-builder, HRGM transformed the underutilized basement and old boiler room of a historic building into a modern child development center for children ages 0-3. Project interiors feature 4 new light filled classrooms, tot sized restrooms, extensive custom casework, a new laundry facility, and offices. HRGM also provided design-build construction for 20,000 SF of new exterior play spaces. This project has become a model for public child development centers in Washington, DC. Work was performed while school was in session.
HRGM performed earthwork & site utilities for this 7.5 acre school, including rainwater harvesting systems, bioretention, contaminated soil removal, water main replacement. We also provided turnkey construction of a 90,000 SF artificial turf field.

HRGM was contracted to renovate the playgrounds at CW Harris Elementary School. We demolished the existing play areas and re-graded the land to create an ADA accessible play space. We also installed a new Storm Water Management system. We installed poured in place safety surfacing and artificial turf as well as a new ADA ramp and extensive retaining wall. We also installed a solid wrought iron fence with panic bars and added metal fence screens along with 20K SF of sod.

HRGM was contracted to renovate the 5-12 year old playground area at Miner ES which was destroyed in a fire. We installed a new surface in the form of Engineered Wood Fiber and repaired the play equipment. We then stripped the area between the 2 existing play areas and graded it to prepare for a new play area. We installed new 5-12 year old play equipment and poured in place safety surfacing. We also resurfaced the existing tot lot and installed over 3,000 SF of sod.
HRGM Corporation was contracted as the Design-Builder of King Greenleaf’s playground. We demolished the existing playground and re-graded the land and installed a new Storm-Water Management System. We built a small berm and installed concrete foorters and new fence posts and fencing. We installed custom play equipment for the tot lot and the school age play area and designed a custom leaf shaped pavilion with its own concrete pad. In addition to landscaping, we installed a new remote splash pad.
HRGM was contracted to perform the pool resurfacing and deck restoration at Banneker Recreation Center. We drained both the main and wading pools. Sandblasted the pools removing all dirt and debris and pressure tested all of the lines in both pools. We installed new land and target tiles flush with new coatings. We installed new bond coat and tiled the top of each set of stairs. We painted the existing main pool gutters and installed 8 lane rope anchors and anti-wave ropes with holders.
HRGM was the contracted for the renovation of the Columbia Heights Community Center playground. We demolished the existing play area and re-graded the land. We installed a new Storm-Water Management System and installed new permeable pavers, footers, and ADA ramps. We installed new custom play equipment for the tot-lot and school aged play areas. We installed new site furnishings and upgraded the lighting. We designed a new splash pad, installed artificial turf and striped the sports areas.
HRGM was contracted Design -Build services for the Southwest Playground. We regraded the site and installed a new retaining wall and Storm-Water Management System. There was extensive tree work and restoration, poured in place rubber installation and installation of the play equipment. We also installed a site furnishings, signs, and new light poles and fencing.
HRGM was contracted to re-design and renovate Lafayette’s 2.5 acre park. There was demolition of the existing site and significant regrading. Resurfacing of sports courts. We installed Bioretention and Storm-Water Management systems. We installed new custom designed play features and a splash pad that is sensor activated and connected to a greywater recycling system. We installed 17,500 SF of sod and 4,100 plants all installed in the winter months.
HRGM was the Design-Builder for the renovation of Hillcrest Playground/Park. Highlights included design and installation of a new LID storm water management system and rain gardens, new custom play features and surfacing, new recirculating splash pad with motion-activated sensors, and new landscaping.
HRGM was selected as the Design-Builder for the Play DC renovation of Fort Greble Park. This project was completed on a highly expedited basis. Highlights included design and installation of a new Green Roof picnic pavilion, new custom play features set into a man-made 10′ high x 200′ long crescent shaped berm covered in over 12,000SF of impact-attenuated artificial turf, design and installation of a contraband-themed splash pad with motion-activated sensors.
This project involved the complete redesign and renovation of a 23,000 SF urban park. HRGM managed all aspects of the project. The work entailed complex permiting requirements, design, fabrication, and installation of a major storm water management system per DDOE requirements, major site excavation and grading, asphalt and concrete paving, decorative fencing, as well as the installation of numerous play areas and safety surfacing. HRGM led community meetings for the park design, and despite re
HRGM was contracted to remove the existing trees and oval asphalt walking track. Regrade the entire open field and install new water drainage system underground as well as retaining ponds and rain gardens. HRGM then installed multiple pieces of playground equipment for 2-5 yr. olds and 5-12 yr. olds, including miscellaneous site furniture like picnic tables, benches, and game tables. Work included the installation of rubber surfacing, sodding, and new fencing.
This project was extremely fast track and required immediate turnaround for pricing and repairs. HRGM was tasked with the sprucing of the exterior grounds. Work included the renovation of the baseball in-field (i.e. backstop, removable bases, benches), refurbishing of the existing play equipment and bleachers, regrading of the play area and filling in the eroded areas, installation of sod. HRGM used juke matting for soil stabilization.
HRGM was contracted to install a new Tot Lot for children 2 to 5 years old. HRGM spent extensive time helping to design this play area and looked at several models and options. HRGM performed miscellaneous ground improvements, installed the playground equipment and the safety surfacing. In addition, HRGM resurfaced the existing tennis court and installed new tennis equipment including posts and nets. Repaired existing walkways and poured new concrete paths to provide safe access to the courts.
HRGM was asked to prepare an existing 100’x92′ asphalt lot for installation of new playgrounds and artificial turf. Work included extensive tree restoration and tree removal, jetting/resetting/re-grading of sunken storm drain, saw-cutting of asphalt, and installation of 3 types of new fencing. Work was completed on time and on budget.
HRGM installed a brand new playground including new safety surfacing at J. O. Wilson Elementary School in the District
HRGM was contracted to redesign and renovate a small park at the intersection of Blair Road and 4th St NW on a fast track basis to discourage loitering. The design involved demolition of 4000 SF of pavers and planters, including 8″ thick concrete foundations, regrading of site, and installation of new landscaping, a new permeable paver pathway, new fencing, and a new rainbird irrigation system. Project was completed on time and under budget.
HRGM was contracted to relocate two demountable classrooms from Murch ES to Tubman ES and connect them to the existing MEP systems. We installed new PA system speakers and call buttons. We installed new flooring and wall base. We also re-keyed the doors and installed new locksets and lock guards. We installed, configured, and tested new Smart Boards, erected a new wooden walkway with canopy and installed a new access card system with new cameras to connect to the school’s existing system
HRGM was contracted to demolish existing CMU walls to install a new elevator in Simon ES. We installed a new CMU elevator shaft, head, and jamb with a waterproofed elevator pit and 2 adjacent closets. We installed a new elevator sump pump and vent. We then installed a new Gen-2 Elevator. Next we installed new lighting, receptacles, flooring, ceiling grid and tiles, drywall, insulation and paint. There was also the installation of a new fire alarm and sprinkler system and dedicated phone lines.
HRGM was contracted to renovate the entire Shepherd Park Library. We consolidated all public services to the first floor as well as consolidated the adult information and check out desk into a single service desk and installed a new children’s information desk. We created two public conference rooms. We also installed new data and electrical cabling to the computer areas. We provided new furnishings and new finishes. We installed new custom millwork shelving and tables.
HRGM was contracted to renovate the interior and exterior of Hardy Recreation Center. The building is 3,200 SF in size. On the exterior we stripped the existing paint and applied new paint on all columns and back porch of the facility. We tuck-pointed 25% of the brick façade and power washed it as well. We also constructed and installed a new ADA access ramp and a new door to meet ADA compliance. We replaced all windows and doors with high efficiency windows and replaced the patio lights.
HRGM was contracted to renovate the interior and exterior of Hardy Recreation Center. On the interior we replaced all flooring with VCT tiles, replaced existing light fixtures with high efficiency light fixtures, replaced the full ceiling system with 2×2 tiles, painted all walls and doors, installed new bathroom wall tiling and floor tiling as well as ADA upgrades. We also installed a tankless hot water heater and designed a new pantry area with new cabinets and counterspace.
HRGM was contracted to reconfigure and renovate various interior spaces throughout the entire school. We renovated each restroom and installed ADA compliant partitions and fixtures. We installed new lights and ceilings to the restrooms as well. We converted several classrooms into a larger space and converted storage rooms to staff offices. We converted the staff lounge into a new science classroom. We installed several smart-boards and televisions. Installed new flooring, cabinets and handles.
HRGM was contracted to demolish all existing linolieum flooring materials and furnish and install all new flooring. We also installed a new self-leveling substrate. The scope included prepping, skimming, sanding, and installation of new vinyl sheet flooring. We are providing heat welding to the seams. New transition strips were furnished and installed and we rolled and weighed new flooring as per the manufacturer’s specifications. We finished cleaned the areas once we finished the install.
HRGM performed a full renovation of the former DeWitt Hospital at Fort Belvoir as the turn-key design-builder. Work required renovation of over 140 clinical rooms and offices, including demolition, architecturals, plumbing, mechanical upgrades, electrical, complete voice and data system upgrade, installation of new doors, nurse call system, signage, flooring. We also performed a full exterior upgrade, including installation of new sidewalks, concrete ramps, construction of a 90′ aluminum frame.
